What does a Audio/Visual and Networking Technician do?
The technician is responsible for assisting the Custom Installation Lead Installer in the installation and calibration of Audio/Visual and networking equipment in homes and businesses. The Custom Home Installer will also assist in daily paperwork and weekly recaps. This role is responsible for all aspects involved with customer deliveries, set-ups, tutoring sessions and or trouble-shoots as directed by the company.
As the audio/visual technician you will:
- Deliver, set up and Install Audio/Video Equipment, lifting equipment up to 75 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodation as needed
- Be required to have some knowledge of mounting audio/visual equipment such as projectors, speakers, amps, cables, and terminate CAT 5 and CAT 6.
- Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in audio/visual installation, construction, or handyman work
- Proven ability to install in-wall speakers
- Proven ability to mount televisions and soundbars
- Proven ability to mount projection screens
- Ability to adapt to problems arising during an installation.
- Knowledge in the technical aspects of installing, configuring and supporting audio visual equipment or network troubleshooting
- Ability to read plans, blue prints, and diagrams
- Ability to work in residential and commercial spaces and be courteous and present yourself in a professional manner, with great attention to detail, and ability to work well in a team environment
- Some knowledge and proficiency in designing networked smart homes like Control4 or Crestron
- Basic knowledge of computer programming
- Knowledge of computer networks and infrastructure
- Ability to terminate cables
- Calibrate Audio/Video Equipment and run wire through walls
- Teach customers how to effectively operate new systems
- Assist in building audio video furniture for customer deliveries
- Complete reporting and documentation as required
Basic Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum21 years of age
- 2 years of experience in home audio and video (A/V) installation
- Valid state driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications: Associates degree or above in Business, Technical or related field
- 2 years of electronics industry experience
- Cedia, ICIA, NICET certification
- Low Voltage license
